CineMAS, the alternative film festival organised by Abu Dhabi-based art platform Manarat Al Saadiyat, is going virtual. The second edition of the festival will screen four films spanning different countries and genres, along with a slate of online talks and chats by regional and international industry veterans; from filmmakers, thought leaders, and artists.

The documentary films are a diverse exploration of different subject matters, from an intimate look into the life and work of iconic Belgian designer Martin Margiela in Martin Margiela: In His Own Words by German director Reiner Holzemer, to a peer into life under siege in the Gaza Strip from the perspective of the Gaza Parkour Team and its founders in One More Jump by Italian director Emanuele Gerosa.

The lineup also includes Cunningham by Russian director Alla Kovgan, an experimental documentary that utilises 3D technology to tell the story of the late American dancer and choreographer Merce Cunningham, and El Father Plays Himself by American-Italian director Mo Scarpelli, a taut family drama in docu format, following a young film director that travels back to his hometown in Venezuela to film a story about his father’s life in the Amazon, that later takes a turn that leaves both father and son with a lot to reckon with.

The screenings will run from July 15th until August 5th. You can register now right here.
